Hello again my blog and readers

I have missed writing. Yes. But life got in the way and I did not make writing a priority! I was thinking of starting a new blog, but then saw that I still had readers for my old posts! So, I plan on starting to write again in this same blog. If anyone is still following me, thank you!

I hope everyone is surviving this COVID-19 safely. For me, this has been a great experience. A time to reflect, to spend with kids, learn how to survive with my spouse and enjoy the small things. Worked with a friend to rehome five pups! Been cooking more. Of course I know we are lucky if we can consider this a good time. Praying for the many people who are in the frontline of this and others who may have to plan their everyday lives with great difficulty in these circumstances. However, we will survive this.

While we figure it out, please do keep an eye open for abused kids who might be stuck at home, animals, especially starving strays etc., and try to help when you can. Please do not ignore if you find you can help. Sending love and positive thoughts to the Universe!

A pedophile on the loose for 12 years with barely any checks on him, in spite of a six month jailing period in 2006! Even now in custody, his face is covered when presented to media. Exactly why are we protecting his identity? Should it not be published so that public can be informed of such an offender?

Meryl Streep - the lady inspires women from all walks of life. Loved her latest acceptance speech, another one of her many! Beauty, talent and class all rolled in one. Thank you for being such an inspiration.

National Geographic has come up with facts on Pit bulls and their campaign I hope will clear the common misconceptions about these gentle and friendly dogs. Makes for a good read. They actually rank better than Collies, German Sheperds and Beagles in the temperament tests, all of which are loved family dogs!

Lets save these beautiful creatures from being killed in shelters everyday for wrong reasons.

The Criminal Law (Amendment) Act, 2013- India

The Criminal Law (Amendment) Act, 2013 passed today in India does the following:

• Amends various sections of the Indian Penal Code, the Code of Criminal Procedure, the Indian Evidence Act and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.

• States that an offender can be sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for 20 years or more to life with a fine

• Defines stalking and voyeurism as non-bailable offences if repeated for a second time.

• Terms acid attack finally as a crime and perpetrators of acid attack will attract a 10-year jail. Plus the victim is granted right to self-defense!

• Also seeks to widen the definition of rape, broaden the ambit of aggravated rape and enhance the punishment for such crimes

• Also provides that all hospitals shall immediately provide first aid and/or medical treatment free of cost to the victims of acid attack or rape

• Also seeks to amend the Indian Evidence Act to allow a rape victim, if she is temporarily or permanently mentally or physically disabled, to record her statement before a judicial magistrate with the assistance of an interpreter or a special educator. It also has provisions to video-graph the proceedings.

Doomsday

Doomsday came and went. Nothing happened, as expected. Then why did I still wake up yesterday feeling just a little dissappointed?

We, mankind can continue wrecking havoc on the environment, on animals, fellow humans and continue living so unchecked. Just a tad dissappointed that there is no end to all the nonsense and a new beginning after many centuries, if only doomsday had been true!
